I adore knit elastic waistbands! They are my favorite way to finish the waists of my skirts. And guess what?? It's super easy to make yourself!
This is so fun and satisfying to make! There's no need for complicated zippers, buttons, or clasps. It's just a cute skirt that can easily stretch as you take it on and off! This method uses a skirt big enough to slip over your hips, and scrunches it up to fit snug at your waist.
If you don't want to sew a whole skirt, you can use one you already have that's too big for you. It's a good solution for hand me downs girls can't wait to grow into. Or better yet, you can hit up the thrift store and scavenge for a beautiful skirt that's three sizes too big!
So grab some elastic, set up your sewing machine and look under the "How To" tab at the top of the page, or click here for instructions.
